We're back with more Sea of Thieves, and this time we're showing you how to earn some easy gold by manipulating the Merchant Alliance Voyages. For more on Sea of Thieves, check out IGN's wiki at www.ign.com/wikis/sea-of-thieves ---- Transcript: Hello everybody, Sean here, and we're taking a look at the Merchant Alliance in Sea of Thieves, and particularly, how you can utilize a little trick to change how you do their voyages. So the Merchant Alliance is unique in that when you accept the voyage from them, they give you cages to help complete the voyage. These cages are free, although the Merchant Alliance voyage itself does cost a little bit of gold, depending on your rank. Now what's important is that when you do a voyage and then you cancel it before completion, you get to keep any of the items involved. This means that when you accept a voyage from the Merchant Alliance, you can go pick up the cages, put them on your boat, but then cancel the voyage and keep all the cages, and that's the important thing to note, is that you keep all the cages. So what we suggest you do is go get as many voyages as you can, and have, if you're on a galley and have all your friends do so as well, propose the voyage, accept it, go get all the cages, stock them up on your boat, and then fill your boat to the brink with cages, while canceling a voyage each time so that you can repeat the process over and over. Once you've got 30, 40, 50 cages, you can then start sailing the seas, collecting animals, and then returning them for gold. Now why would you want to do this? 'Cause admittedly, it does sound a little strange. These voyages cost money at first, and the rewards might not seem very useful, but it's about time management and the long-term rewards. First is the short-term rewards of actually completing the voyage normally. If you normally try to do a voyage, you can only have three at a time, so that's a max of 12 on a galley, and with this method, you skip the voyage limit, you completely go around it, because you're canceling the voyages before they really get off the ground. On top of that, these cages are no longer tied to a specific voyage, therefore they no longer need a specific animal or time and delivery date, and they don't need a specific delivery destination. This frees you up to be able to do whatever you want in Sea of Thieves, while also collecting these animals and turning them in for a profit. You can go hunt treasure, you can go fight skeletons, you could even go do a skeleton fort, if you wanted, and then afterwards pick up a few animals off the island, continue on your way. Obviously, the profit you make is gonna be dependent on how much you initially invested, and how expensive the initial voyages were. But so long as you pick up the correct animals, you will be making a profit in the long-term, and you still get reputation for every turn-in as well, so you're really not losing out on a whole lot, but it is freeing you up to be able to do so much more with your time, without the specific restriction of a voyage. Now, as you can see, we do suggest you go for the gold chicken, that is the most viable and the least troublesome of the animals, but if you can't get a gold chicken, any other chicken will do, it's just we highly suggest the gold one, as it's gonna maximize your profits and your reputation gain. But that's it, that is the Merchant Alliance trick to getting easy gold and reputation. I hope this helps you out, I thank you for watching, and we'll see everyone next time.
