Why are there limits on digital library books? ›

Publishers have different purchasing models for how they sell to libraries. Some sell them with a limited number of checkouts or with a built-in expiration date of one or two years. Publishers are continuing to change their sales and lending models for libraries, often limiting access and/or increasing prices.

The Greater Phoenix Digital Library is a public library consortia consisting of Apache Junction Public Library, Casa Grande Public Library, Glendale Public Library, Maricopa County Library District, Mesa Public Library, Peoria Public Library, Phoenix Public Library, and Scottsdale Public Library.

A Phoenix Public Library card is available for FREE to Maricopa County residents. Visit any of our 17 locations and fill out a library card application. Proof of identification is required - view the list of acceptable identification on the library's website. Loan periods vary by material type.
